Serena O’Meara’s arrangement of Melchoir Teschner’s “All Glory, Laud and Honor” is for lever or pedal harp, piano or organ, and any of the following instruments: flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, French horn, trumpet in B-flat, alto saxophone, violin, viola, or cello. Tradition has it that in 820 Louis the Pious, Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, heard Theodulph of Orleans singing this hymn while under house arrest. Louis was so inspired by the hymn that he released Theodulph. In 1603 Melchoir Teschner set the hymn text to a new tune. J. S. Bach created the harmonization that is commonly used, and John Mason Neale translated it into English.
