“Mastom, Mastom” is an old Persian love song from the province of Fars, the central southern province of today’s Iran. The lyrics of the song poetically describe the infatuation of a young man. He desperately longs for his beloved, whom he describes as a blossoming flower, but remains unreachable for him. “I am so in love, so in love, that I forgot about their thorns and pricked myself at their thorns”.
