Notes from the arranger
“This collection of some of the most well-known tunes from the operatic world follows from the second volume in my series Famous Music for the Harp – Operatic Encores. As with the first volume, I have included well-known tunes from the world of opera spanning three centuries, and as you familiarize yourself with this wonderful music you will get to know highlights from operas of some of the major operatic composers, such as Mozart, Verdi and Puccini as well as operatic delights by some lesser known composers.
I was fortunate enough to spend most of my working life in an opera orchestra and as I prepared this volume for you I thoroughly enjoyed immersing myself once again in the exciting world of the theatre. I can only recommend that you also get to know this repertoire since much of our most beautiful music is to be found in operas. Even better, watch and listen to opera performances or recordings – I promise that the experience will be thrilling as you absorb the excitement and passion.”
