Notes from the arranger
Here we have two tunes well-known by Welsh children. “Dau Gi Bach” (Two Little Dogs) tells the story of two dogs going for a walk to the woods wearing new shoes on all four paws. However, they came home each having lost a shoe: how did this happen? Maybe they enjoyed themselves so much dancing with gusto to the second tune in this arrangement – “Pwt ar y Bys,” a popular tune in Welsh folk dancing circles; in English folk communities this is known as “Buttered Peas.”
