Kathleen Blackwell-Plank has arranged the traditional folk song “The Duckling Swims–A Ukrainian Lament” for solo lever or pedal harp. This old Ukrainian folk song is a warning of the dangers of war. The lyrics are a conversation between a mother and her son which you hear in the arrangement as the melody shifts between the right and left hands. The arrangement utilizes rolled chords, glissandi, occasional left and right hand harmonics, and arpeggios. Chord symbols and historical background are provided.
