Mary’s Little Boy Child
$7.00
Judith Aucoin Olson has arranged Jester Hairston’s Mary’s Little Boy Child for solo lever or pedal harp. Written in a calypso/Caribbean island style with bouncy syncopated rhythms, this piece is a joy to perform during the holiday season. It was inspired by the passing of recording artist Harry Belafonte who popularized the song in the late 1950’s. The piece includes a number of extended techniques such as harmonics, étouffé, and glissandi. Small excerpts of other well-known Christmas pieces are also woven into the piece to compliment the melody.
This piece is a PDF download for $7.00.
