Notes from the arranger
This collection is for the fully-levered harp with at least 34 strings. You have a choice of books for harps tuned in E-Flat or harps tuned in C Major. In the C Major book, all of the carols and songs are in C or G Major, and there are some lever changes on C and F. It is best printed in color, as the lever changes are red. Set up your book so the odd pages are on the left, so that there will be no page turns in the middle of a song. Fingerings and lever changes are written in. The songs are grouped by keys for easy lever changes. Most of the carols are in their original keys.

Fun and approachable. It would be easy to add notes in the left hand if you wanted to. Would be useful as accompaniment for singers. The progression from Bb major up through G major makes sense and lets you play through the pieces (usually) only shifting levers at a new piece. There are a few lever changes in some pieces; they are clearly marked in red.

This is a wonderful and comprehensive collection of treasured Christmas carols. The pieces range in brevity and difficulty to keep the beginner through intermediate harpist engaged and inspired. It’s a perfect book for my daughter, who has been studying the lever harp for a few years. It’s difficult to find music for the folk harp that appeals to young harpists. It has been especially hard to locate collections that suit her level while maintaining her interest. These pieces are beautifully arranged with the student in mind, and this collection will remain a favorite of hers for a long time to come!
