After reading the fine review in Harp Column magazine, I bought the pdf download for this song and really enjoy the piece. Take some time to study the piece and you’ll find that it’s not as hard as it looks. Some of the phrases are repeated often.
My only criticism is that the notation is not as clear as it could be. For example, the first page has a lot of natural symbols that can be confusing. To me, the first page is easier to understand if one views it as being in A-minor and finally resolving to A-major at the double bar (measure 19). The rhythm is difficult to sight read because of inconsistencies in notating a tied note across the center of the measure (tied eighth notes vs. a single quarter note). Often the treble clef and bass clef are not notated the same in this regard. I realize that this gets to be a matter of what you are used to seeing as far as notation goes. Don’t let that stop you from buying this wonderful piece!
