Come Thou Long Expected Jesus/Sim Shalom

Christa Grix’s “Come Thou Long Expected Jesus/Sim Shalom” combines an early American hymn tune and a traditional Yiddish folk song into a beautiful medley for solo pedal harp. “Ideal for an interfaith service, the arrangement pairs two melodies that, at first glance, seem completely unrelated in temperament,” says Grix. “Upon further investigation, the harpist will realize that not only do these two melodies from different cultures share similar harmonies, they bespeak of shared longing for redemption through peace, hope, healing and light.” Scroll down for lyrics and additional notes.
