Notes from the arranger
A sure crowd-pleaser, this sentimental hymn tune written by English composer Albert L. Peace in 1884 is sweet and lyrical. A contrasting minor verse has been added to balance out the “old-timey” sweetness of the usual melody. This may be a new tune to you, but it appears in over two hundred published hymnals.
In this arrangement, the instruments get to do what they do best and are treated as equal partners.
For recital or worship in Lent and most general times in the liturgical year.
