Notes from the composer
There is no blended score; both parts are continuous for most of the piece. All text cues are in the harp part. The part requires extensive lever changes and involves some improvisation.
“Demeter and Persephone” is a theatrical setting of the classic Greek myth, written by Alyssa Reit for lever (or pedal) harp and storyteller. Based on the original Ode to Demeter, this version includes extended sections of the story often omitted, highlighting positive and thought-provoking aspects of the story. There is also some background information about how the ancient Greeks conceived of the world in different levels. Excellent for school presentations, appropriate for grades 4 and up.
