Cuban Dream After the Storm is a piece for four pedal harps by Alfredo Rolando Ortiz. Composed for the Chicago Harp Quartet and dedicated to Susann McDonald, the piece’s world premiere took place at Carnegie Hall in 2015. Inspired by the composer’s childhood memories of falling asleep while watching the frequent thunderstorms through his window, it is in two sections based on the rhythmic styles of the Cuban “danzón” and “conga.”
