Coral Reef

Coral Reef, by Julia Kay Jamieson, is for four lever or pedal harps. Inspired by the 1960s sound of the Beach Boys, particularly “Surfer Girl,” it is a love song to coral reefs—ancient, vibrant ecosystems that support thousands of marine species and protect coastlines from erosion and storm surges. Like many love songs, “this ode carries a melancholic tone as reefs are threatened by warming oceans and pollution,” says the composer.
