Floraleda Sacchi has arranged Antonio Vivaldi’s “Spring” from The Four Seasons for pedal harp and string orchestra. The orchestral parts remain unchanged, while the solo violin and continuo are transposed for harp. This arrangement preserves the original themes and virtuosity while adding the distinctive colors of the harp. Sacchi has also arranged “Summer,” “Winter,” and “Autumn.”

Published in Amsterdam in 1725, The Four Seasons is the title by which Antonio Vivaldi’s first four concertos of Il cimento dell’armonia e dell’inventione, Op. 8, are commonly known. Each concerto refers to one of the seasons: Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. These concertos are one of the very first examples of descriptive music and the concertos are also accompanied by sonnets written by an anonymous poet (probably Vivaldi himself). The connection with nature and the typical soundscapes of each season unfold one after the other, helping to create the rich palette of colors that made these concertos so unique and famous.

This arrangement is scored for harp, two violins, viola, cello, and bass.
