This work is for treble chorus, harp, and two french horns. Although an unusual instrumentation, Brahms makes full use of the harp and the harp plays in all four songs.

The part is newly engraved with modern notation and includes helpful harp-specific information such as pedal markings, cues, enharmonic equivalents, and suggested fingerings.
