Note from the composer

The title ’Fraid Not came about as the result of a rather bumpy train of thought triggered by reactions to the lively South American dance rhythms of the piece and its beguiling melody, mingled with thoughts about certain meat products that we associate with that part of the world and the environmental impact the scale of their production has. When combining the thoughts of (a) all those cows raised for beef, and (b) the irresistible rhythms of the music that make you want to dance, I had the appealing vision of all the cows dancing instead of being eaten, and thought Los Vacas Bailando might conjure that vision up nicely.
