Lever harp version
Pedal harp version

Jacqueline Pollauf has transcribed Johann Sebastian Bach’s “Prelude in C” from the The Well-Tempered Clavier, Book 1 for solo lever or pedal harp. Pollauf’s lever harp version is faithful to the original work, and consequently involves quite a few challenging lever changes. These are shown throughout with diamond shaped notes. Pollauf’s pedal harp version is a straightforward transcription with a few enharmonic solutions used to simplify the pedals.

I love that there is a lever version, even if it does have quite a few lever changes. However, some of the measures are missing from the song. I think they may have been accidentally deleted from the version you can purchase? I don’t see away to contact the artist or I would. It won’t work for our purposes without the missing measures.

We’re sorry this arrangement didn’t work out for you! We double checked and confirmed that this arrangement of “Prelude in C” includes the same number of measures as Bach’s original composition from The Well-Tempered Clavier, Book 1. Arranger Jacqueline Pollauf says: “Occasionally there can be some confusion between this piece and Charles Gounod’s Ave Maria. Bach wrote the “Prelude in C” in 1722 as part of his work, “The Well-Tempered Clavier”. Then, in 1853, Charles Gounod published a work entitled “Ave Maria”, which he based on Bach’s “Prelude in C”. Since the works are so closely related, sometimes people will plan to simply play off their “Prelude in C” part when collaborating with a singer on Gounod’s “Ave Maria”. However, it is important to note that Gounod added some measures to the “Ave Maria”, so Bach’s “Prelude in C” cannot be used in this way.”
