Frances M. Thiele has transcribed Sophia Dussek’s arrangement of “Ye Banks and Braes” for solo lever or pedal harp. This piece is from Sophia Dussek’s Three Favourite Airs with Variations for the Harp, Second Set (London, 1815). As classical interpretations of folks songs were popular in the 19th century, this unique arrangement is a classical interpretation of the traditional Scottish folk song. Thiele says “it is perfect salon music suitable for almost any occasion.”

What a beautiful arrangement of this classic! It gets progressively difficult so a person could learn their way into it, playing just the first bit to start then progressing as ability allows. It’s really lovely.
