Since you’ve already got it, would you mind answering a few questions about it?
February 6, 2008 at 1:39 am in reply to: First public performance — and speed problems on lower strings #163546Michael WilsonMemberI certainly hope so, because we just got asked to reprise it on the 7th.
February 5, 2008 at 5:34 am in reply to: First public performance — and speed problems on lower strings #163544Michael WilsonMemberFor those who were wondering, I made it through the performance.
Michael WilsonMemberThat’s exactly how I’ve been holding it, too.
January 3, 2008 at 5:06 am in reply to: First public performance — and speed problems on lower strings #163538Michael WilsonMemberI was supposed to be background accompaniment while another instrument (recorder) carried the melody.
Michael WilsonMemberHis teething is why the harp is stored, hanging out of reach, in a closet with a closed door, in a hall behind a baby gate where he isn’t allowed to go unaccompanied.
Michael WilsonMemberFigures.
Rees shipped out the strings, and my apartment complex received the package.
Michael WilsonMember…and now, after a second email (I never had a chance to call during business hours, so I tried another email) I’ve gotten a response from Garen, who seems to answer all the email.
I’m sorry to here [sic] of the strange burrs on the strings. I’m not sure what would have caused them as we have never experienced this problem before. It was probubly [sic] just a few bad strings that we received from Robinson’s harp shop. For your trouble I have sent you a free set of extra strings that should arrive within 3-5Michael WilsonMemberYes, I would very much like to know the follow-up from Rees.So would I.
Michael WilsonMemberFor those people who requested follow-up on the matter….
I’ve now met with my soon-to-be instructor (Eva Murphy), and she’s never seen anything like these burrs, either.
Michael WilsonMemberI bought my harpsicle direct from Rees, so it would all go direct to him.
I’ve just taken a much closer look.
Michael WilsonMemberThis isn’t the sort of roughness that I’d get if some varnish had gotten on the strings.
Michael WilsonMemberWell, the actual hearing loss is almost certainly permanent.
Michael WilsonMemberNo, I’m not — and I’ve actually never heard of them.
Michael WilsonMemberYeah, that’s what I’ve got in mind: Work hard to get to the point where I can progress on my own.
