ParticipantHear’s another harp story for you to enjoy
Little Mary & The Orchestra
By Mia StrayerOnce their was a harpist named Gina. She has long curly brown hair & chocolate brown eyes. She was the best harpist in the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Gina taught the harp too.
Gina likes to play classical music for the harp. She has many harp students & harps. One of her students is named Claddaugh & another one is named Clover.
they are both twin sisters.
Claddaugh has red hair & irish green eyes & Clover has mahogany hair & brown eyes. One day Gina decided to invite Claddaugh & Clover to the CSO. for a harp concert. While she was practicing on her harp 15 Strings popped, 6 disks fell off the neck, all the pedals got stuck in flat & wouldn’t move & their was a crack down the entire soundboard. So Gina decided to call the harp co & see if she could bring the harp into be repaired but they were closed for that weekend.
So Gina decided to call her harp students Claddaugh & Clover to see if ether of them had a harp to lend but… they said “We need our harps to play for tonight’s concert with the orchestra.” After they hung up Gina heard a small voice coming from Little Mary her harp necklace. The harp said “Can you take me off my chain?” So she did what the little harp said & that little harp grew into a gold pedal harp. Gina was so surprised that she nearly went blind.
Then Little Mary said “Come play my strings.” So she played the harp & that harp had the wormiest tone Gina had ever herd. She asked “How am I going to get you to the concert?” Than Little Mary said “ Put the chain back around me.” So Gina did what the harp said & the pedal harp went back to being a necklace. As soon as Gina got there she practiced and practiced unto Claddah and Clover came and they all played together & had a lot of fun.
That evening the concert was a success thanks to Gina and her magical harp Little Mary.
After the concert they all went home & Gina got 20 more students claddaugh & Clover got 10 new students each. The next week Gina took her harp into get fixed and she had no more problems after that. The End

ParticipantOh My Stars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’ve been wanting to get my harp stories & music published.
But I don’t play the wire harp & some of my stories have the wire strung harp.
I wish I knew some more Irish music besides Be Thou My Vision.
I’m fairly good at writing music for the harp though.
Keep in mind I don’t see very good.mia-strayer
ParticipantI use cocoa butter because I have baby sensitive skin & most Laotians seem to bother my sensitive skin
I’ve bean playing harp for about 8 years & have never gotten callusesAugust 10, 2014 at 6:43 pm in reply to: iPhone & iPad apps that help write music while you play the harp #143249mia-strayer
ParticipantDRAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this is one time I wish I had an eletroaccoustick harp then I can plug it into my computer & write my music for both pedal & lever harps
I didn’t here any bad wordsmia-strayer
ParticipantMy feet are too small to keep the heels flat on the floor
On another note I’m looking for iPhone & iPad apps that would write the music as I play my harps
I posted this in another forum toomia-strayer
ParticipantI also have trouble with that A pedal too
Do you think your harp is too big for you
I play an 85 GP harp
Have you tried a smaller pedal harp you might be able to reach that pedal easer
I’ve knottiest that some harps do have closer pedals
For instance I’ve played on a 85 p pedal harp at L&H & I could reach that A easer than my 85 GP & my harp teacher’s harpsmia-strayer
ParticipantUPDATE!!!!!!!!! I’m going to the Dr’s on monday I’ve got to have some pics taken & some more documentation Please prey

ParticipantI’ve found the balance point for my pedal harp!!!!!!! I’ll have to try this on my irish harp too
My harp teacher says that I can use 1 of my many stuffed animals & bellevue me it really works.
I’m still squashed under my harps but… now I can use a stuffed animal.
If only I knew how to send pics to HC then I can show you the before & aftermia-strayer
ParticipantI too have ice cubes it manly effects my feet & sometimes my hands
I started having the problems after surgery to cut my heal chords at 12 years old
BTW my feet stopped growing after the surgery now I’m a size 2&1/2 in kids shoos
I think the dr. messed up all my nerves in my feet cause I have NO feeling in them & yes it does effect my pedaling on the harp
Sense than I’ve had NO blood flow to my feet & there always ice cubes
I take 3 baby aspirin a day & wear thick socks but… My feet are still ice cubesmia-strayer
ParticipantI live in Chicago but… I’m going home to Rockford to recover after the surgery
At least I’ve got some friends who are willing to stop by & see me at home
I wish I knew some more harpists/musicians to help me with my situation I don’t know too many musicians in the Chicago aria
BTW I’m going to have to stop PT & OT while I on surgery leave
Maybe you might know some harpists/musicians in the Chicago aria who can help me
I’ll see what I can do with my harp teachers too
Who knows they might be able to help out toomia-strayer
ParticipantWhen I have it done… How long will I have to stop playing harp?????????????????
I just want to know!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is one time I wish I had a lap harp or do you think I can play my Shamrock lever harp??????????
She’s only 25 pounds… Unlike my style 85 GP pedal harp she’s a WHOPPING 69 poundsmia-strayer
ParticipantKay have you had that surgery done to you???????????????????
Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!the harp is right on top
of me & that’s why I’m feeling squashed under my harps
I also have NO feeling in my feet so if I step on
somebody else’s feet it’s cause I can’t see my
feet nor feel somebody else’s feet under mine
Yes it does make it a challenge to play
the pedals on a pedal harp
If only I knew how to post pics on
here so you could see what I mean by
being squashed under my harpsmia-strayer
ParticipantI don’t think L&H makes that harp anymore
I’m losing the wait but… Due to my BAD back & CP
the wait loss just isn’t enough thats why I need the surgery
BTW it’ plastic sugary & it’s medically necessary
My harp is a style 85 GP harp
I was looking for the 85 XP harp but…
L&H quit making those harps too
I have a Shamrock lever harp too that L&H doesn’t make
I just started PT & OTmia-strayer
ParticipantWell… I start PT tomorrow & OT the next day
Can you give me the web sight for those shoos
Unfortunately I don’t know how to add pics to this post
I do have some good angles thoughmia-strayer
ParticipantGood News!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m having PT & OT next Tuesday
This will help my BAD back & CP
The PT will stranthen my musicals in my back & the OT will loosen the ones in my hands & feet
They may extend it for a longer time than the 12 weeks if necessary & help with some other things I need help with
they may have some ideas to help me be a better harpist/harper -
