ParticipantThanks for the heads up Sarah! If I ever try to sell my harp, that would definitely be one thing to watch out for. Thank you too Mike. That letter does sound a bit suspicious too. I hope scammers learn from their greed. It’s such a wrong thing to do!

ParticipantThank you John, Sid, Tony, and Charles! I appreciate your guys’s efforts to help!

ParticipantThanks Karine! Looks like music theory really is helpful! I can’t wait to tackle those complicated pieces and have better comprehension. That was helpful information. I may have to switch to a more musical theory-antiquated teacher haha!
Thanks Tony! Wow I’m far from knowing how to alter an existing arrangement to fit as an accompaniment. Looks like I have to start learnin’ music theory. Plus I like your comparison that turning on a light without knowing its mechanics is the same as playing without knowing music theory.
Thanks Patricia! Wow this website is really helpful.Thank you for referencing helpful resources! I’ll definitely get started on these.
Thanks Irene! Music is a language itself?! That made me think out of the box more. I hope to be like you and the others haha! Advanced in playing and music theory.
Thanks harp guy! Wow, top 5 things that post-graduates wished they had changed about their musical education? Interesting.. looks like a “must have”. So I must have more music theory instruction and more music history instruction. Thanks for telling me about this harp dude!
Thanks Saul! You’re right, getting a general knowledge of music and being familiar with the basics is definitely important. Can’t wait for college! Thanks!

ParticipantI mean “alerted” me not “ticked” me haha!

ParticipantAlso, I might have not been ordering the strings.Yeah that ticked when you said that, Thanks so much for your help Barbara and Cark!
PassionateCross
ParticipantThanks everyone! Sharp edges and not enough wraps around the pin may have been the problem.
PassionateCross
ParticipantOh they’re breaking right at the tuning pin. It’s the same ones. Plus the lower strings do have a wire core. Should I floss the tuning pins or something?
PassionateCross
ParticipantHi Barbara,
They’re mostly breaking at the near top. My model is a Triplett 30 Liberty harp. It’s a used one.
Here’s where I buy strings: http://www.harpcenter.com/product/triplett-r-30-n-30-strings/
The upper ones barely ever break off. But the lower ones($10.00) seem to break off more

ParticipantHi Cyndee, if you go to their channel, they do sound samples of various harps. The 85 Grand Petite sounds pretty to me.

ParticipantHaha thanks everyone. Looks like will have to find a really cheap pedal harp with my luck. But LOL! I am pretty inexperienced about how they build the harps, causing me to ask poorly thought out questions. So I guess my question is April Fool’s related! xD
PassionateCross
ParticipantThanks so much for helping, everyone! I’ve got more choices now.
PassionateCross
ParticipantThanks Atlanta Harp Center for the information!

ParticipantThanks Sam! Even though the price increases aren’t a big change at the moment, I fear the thought of them having more price increases in the future. The Chicago Petite 40 will increases to $10,950 from $10,450. O_O, I have a freaky thought that after several more years, the cost will be $14,000.
PassionateCross
ParticipantThanks Andy! I should’ve thought more economically to why they rose their prices. Oh well =/
PassionateCross
ParticipantThanks! Hope it won’t be much of a big deal.
