Well, she’s probably not interested (or it’s otherwise maybe not possible) to study abroad? Most teachers teach the french method in Europe. I myself am finishing my studies in Vienna and I was taught a firm french technique.

Some Britten was composed after 1975 (as far as I know the Suite was written 1975)

Another good one is Spiders by Patterson. (I’m pretty sure it was written after 1975, but do correct me if I’m wrong!)

Of course, the pieces by Ami Ma’ayani are fabulous – Maqamat is a lot of fun!

There’s a wonderful Sonata for violin and harp by Damase.

Well, all I’m going to say is that I’ve had some experiences with brides-to-be… also, I had to play in an embassy for some ritzy dinner (5 courses) and they were soooo stingy to pay me. We had arranged a price and I got paid in a sealed envelope after, yet when I checked, they’d actually paid me less than what we had arranged…. (even though they were serving filet mignon on gold plates…..)

Sometimes the richest are the stingiest…….

I can’t believe nobody has mentioned Nicanor Zabaleta!!!! There aren’t many recordings, but you should definatly listen to his cd of spanish music, as well as his version of Rodrigo’s “concierto serenata”. brilliant!
