Thats just how TV land works sadly. They might have had a real harpist play something and pretended to be recording that for the show then just dubbed it over after the fact without telling him/her (I didnt see it). It happened to a friend of mine. She got a bit part on a made for TV movie and was so excited then they dubbed over her with another voice just for fun. I was so sad for her.
I’ve been trying to answer my own quesitons for a while. For posterity, Park Stickney uses/used this harp. There are photos of him with one on his website:

I’m hoping someone can comment on the 2000 also. I must say, though, that I’m not a fan of the gold color on the harp in that link. It also looks like an older model as the pickups dont match the photos on the current L&H website. I think few could fault you with getting a natural or mohogany finish.
Yeah, that would be bad. I just find the policy amusing because it is such an annoyance. There are waiters at the theater and I would imagine you could just warn them beforehand. If they still griefed you over the light you could probably ruin their year with an Americans with disabilities lawsuit. I’ve been twice and it’s not like they were patrolling the place. Most people get the hint.
I dont know if any of you have heard of the Alamo Drafthouse, but it’s a nice movie theatre (more than one actually) that prohibits cell phone use. People get kicked out if their phone lights up during the movie. There is a funny youtube video with a badmouthed girl complaining on their voice mail about being kicked out.

I kinda like the point and laugh approach. My daughter was in a movie theater and a couple of young guys were goofing off jumping over seats. One of them tripped and she stood up and did the “slow clap” (applauding someones stupidity). The theater broke into applause!
Zombies exist. Wandering aimlessly (into your lane) searching for a signal, updating facebook, having the same meaningless conversations about whats for dinner and what so and so said. I refused to own one for the longest time, I barely use it still.
I really wish there was more info on the new ones out there. I’ve seen several style 100’s on youtube but it takes some searching. Are these essentially the same as the style 100 but with the pickups added, or are they actually made different with the same column as the 100?
Also, if anyone knows, do they mature the same as acoustic L&H harps? I mean, do they sound better as they belly up a bit, or does the pickup mechanism affect it’s acoustic sound over time?
I love Alyssa’s input, but surely she’s not the only one to own one.

It sounds like he has no respect for you or your interests. Life is too short to waste it on the unappreciative. Seek counseling at a minimum and plan ahead for a divorce if thats where you need to go.
College isn’t the only path to success, but it is the most proven one. Do you have a plan B? Perhaps you could major in another field with much better odds of a job you would love that has a very low unemployment rate. Nurses are doing very well right now. You could also go back to school once you are more stable financially.
You are wise to worry about taking on a lot of debt. There are many people who graduate with a large student loan and a degree that hardly guarantee’s them a job. The debt is so large and takes so long to pay off they might as well give it a name and a room in their house cuz it’s like raising a child.
Research and apply for every scholarship you can find. The worst they can do to you is say no.
You can also look into a military scholarship. I got one for serving active duty and got out with enough money to pay for nursing school. I would have had it even easier if I had saved money like I should have. I have a daughter who went to nursing school and the Army paid for all of it. I have another daughter who is in school and she got an awesome scholarship, just not with the military.
I’m not saying join the military, just saying explore all options. There may be a path that takes a little longer but will make it easier for you to finance an excellent education in music and get you to your goals.
Saul is probably right that it will be near impossible to get into an orchestra without a solid degree in music. Just keep in mind that with the economy in tatters many an orchestra/symphony is having budget problems which makes the competition to get into one even harder. Taking on a load of debt for a chance at one is kinda rough. Is it possible to find a degree that will land you a solid job while you minor in music, then go back for your music degree in a better financial status?
Dont look at this as a one solution problem. Attack it from the sides and stab it in the back if you must. There are other paths than the direct one, the down side is they take a bit longer.
