Amy Turk uses them. Check out her YouTube videos.
I used them for a while (just because a harp I bought was strung with them) They were useful in dark playing conditions but very, VERY white in normal use. I didn’t like them. I felt the sound was a bit clearer when I re-strung the harp (a LH 11) with normal now brand strings.

I’ve used one for years now. It’s never fallen. It HAS been knocked off the stand once (onto the harp) during a wedding by the bride’s father – who immediately assured me he would pay for the iPad if it was damaged!! It was during the actual ceremony so I had to smile sweetly, compose myself, continue playing and check the harp later. It was fine thank goodness. I made a point of telling him that as I left….and pointing out that he was lucky he didn’t have any harp damage to pay for……🤬🤬
Most iPad stands are metal and the case is magnetic. I changed my case after this incident and it would be really hard now for it to come off the stand. I actually managed to catch both the stand and the iPad case but the iPad itself fell out because of the way the case was designed. It couldn’t happen now.
I use a foot pedal to turn pages so there’s no risk of me knocking it off with an over enthusiastic page turn!!
I wouldn’t leave it anywhere to get stolen. It stays in my bag which stays with me.
Tech. issues have never happened. I’m still using my original iPad Pro – first generation. It’s never let me down. Do I trust it to never fail? No!!! I have a file of paper music that lives in my car just in case.
    Because I’m paranoid. 🤪

It’s always been my favourite concerto since buying the Zabaleta recording on CD by accident. I wanted one of the other concertos on it and this happened to be included.

Alison, I too saw him at that Harp Conference in Cardiff. I’m still have the programme with his autograph in it!
It seems to be rarely performed but Ieuan Jones played it at that conference and I was also lucky enough to hear Sivan Magen perform it at the WHC in Sydney.

I got the score out of the library once when I was a student. The harp part looked terrifying!

Personally I was unimpressed by the Roland cube series of amps. I couldn’t get a clean sound. I use the Roland AC33 acoustic amp for mains free amplification. It’s a little bit above your price range but I picked mine up on eBay. It is absolutely brilliant. I use it with both acoustic harps (concert grand and lever in combination with the Fishman SBT-HP pick up) and with my DHC 32 electric harp.
I agree with Brandden about the AER amps. I use the compact 60 when I need more power. It requires the mains but is fantastic. They make a battery operated version but it is very expensive. Both are quite a lot above your price range but again, I got mine on eBay so it’s worth keeping an eye open there.

Ah Balfour, we know you love the Dustys!! And I agree with you! The only one in Charle’s price range would be a Ravenna 34 which in my opinion would be well worth a look.
I have 2 Camac Hermines that I rent out and both are lovely. This summer I decided to get myself a new lever harp for gigs where the pedal harp isn’t suitable and I really expected to get a Camac – possibly an Aziliz. When I tried them none of them really had the voice I was looking for. I went to check out a harp with a student and there was a second hand Ravenna there that I absolutely loved. So, despite telling my pupil not to let me buy anything – harp number 11 joined the family!!
Charles, they come with the option of various different leg lengths so you can have them pretty high. There is a second hand one for sale here. I don’t know how far away from you it is but It’s not a million miles from the EMS so thought I would throw it into the mix.

I’m guessing you are in the UK? I would strongly advise waiting until next summer and trying to visit the World Harp Congress in Cardiff. It’s one of the rare occasions over here where you can try many different makes and model of harp all in the same place and compare everything to find the one that really speaks to you. You may even find something that isn’t normally available in this country that is exactly what you are looking for!

Of the two you mention, I agree with Will. I too prefer Camacs generally to Salvi lever harps. I haven’t played the Telenn though.

You could send a section of it to https://www.15secondharp.com/

I recommend watching the clips and reading her comments and tips either on the website or via her Instagram account. This resource is absolutely brilliant and invaluable to anyone wanting to learn about the dos and fonts of writing for harp.

I use the fishman pickup mentioned by Molly K. It is brilliant. I use it in all my harps – concert grand LH 23 down to 34 string Clarsach.

I attach the pick-up itself to the back of the soundboard using blu-tac. It never comes off accidentally but I can remove it if necessary. The jack end I fix to the harp using Command Strips picture hanging strips. I have them in two positions on the harp. The first is under the base of the harp at the side like in Bill’s photo. I use it in this position if I’m using a cable. The second is in the same place that the dusty jack clip goes but on the inside of the sound hole. I keep the jack socket there all the time as it is out of the way and can’t get damaged during travel but I also usually connect wirelessly and my transmitter fits in there neatly when I’m using it.

The wireless system I use is this one. Can’t fault it. Xvive U2 Wireless Digital Transmitter/Receiver System for Guitar, Bass and Other Instruments, Rechargeable, 2.4 GHz Black https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01N4DSQBR/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_2Z0TDbT9JMEPZ

A good substitute for Air on a G String is Arioso (also by Bach) There is a very nice simple arrangement in this book

    Basically Bach

The guest arrival can be quite long so if your repertoire is limited and your pieces are quite short, work out ways of adding repeats within each piece. Put sections up the octave, improvise different LH patterns etc. Nothing too tricky, just change it up to make what you have go a bit further.
Always remember that the bride and her entourage will not hear the prelude music! For this reason I don’t encourage my brides to make specific requests for that part of the ceremony – just To indicate styles of music they would prefer. The most important choices are entry, exit and signing of the register (here in the UK at least – may be different in other countries) so those are the ones I focus on.

There are some lovely Christmas arrangements at music discoveries by Anne Crosby Gaudet. They are all viewable as a pdf preview and have videos so you can hear the whole thing before buying.

For real beginners my students enjoy this book a lot.

I nearly mentioned that Andrew Lawrence King was based in Guernsey but didn’t know where you were so thought it was irrelevant. 🤪 I really hope you can make contact!

Tricia there’s an email on the link I sent to the museum. I’m sure that would reach him. The other option would be to contact Meko via his Facebook page. He’s quite active there. https://m.facebook.com/meko.harp

That looks more like a style 17 rather than a 23 to me. Try contacting Meko at the International harp museum. I think he would know exactly what it is and what it would be worth.
