Oops, sorry. Adlais has one of those stupid accordion sites that won’t let you link to a page, but if you click Harp solos>Thomas, you’ll see it towards the bottom of the page.

It’s just been republished by Adlais:

    Also, Lyra has a version.

Well, I think it’s partly a question of ‘extraordinary at what’, too, Jerusha. Anyone who can deal with the incredible demands of that kind of schedule and keep the gig *is* extraordinary in at least some ways. 🙂

    >I don`t know about 1960s or 1970s when the competition was not —-.

So you think that Druzinsky, Chalifoux, Costello, Zighera, Rosen, Loman, Ellis, Watkins, et al were a bunch of slouches? Interesting perspective.

There have always been more extraordinary harpists than orchestral jobs. I have to say I’m puzzled by this entire thread: you don’t get a major symphony job if you aren’t “extraordinary”, never did.

    >These carols require no lever changes during each carol

Have you changed them, then Patricia? My ancient copy certainly has a few lever/pedal changes in it.

If you don’t need to play the harp right away, you can stuff dryer sheets or the new febreze sheets into the cavity (in addition to cleaning any residue off the outside), but you won’t like playing it while they’re in there–they may smell worse than the perfume at first. It takes a while for them to work.

While it’s hard to get a good purchase on it no matter how you grab it, if you can pick it up at all, you should be able to carry the unboxed harp upright up the stairs, maybe pausing periodically to let it rest on the step above you while you get your grip back.

    >either the key of C major or or B minor.

I’m sure Audrey meant to type “A minor”.

Hi, Karen. An advanced google search of this site will produce a number of threads, like this one:

Colorado Case company is the main maker of these, but it’s going to be almost as much as a new kit would be:

Thanks, hitomi. Yes, I tried that, and also iTalk Lite. They’re both okay and get the job done, but I wouldn’t mind paying to get something just a bit better sounding–they don’t pick up the bass very well, I find. But you’re right, they both let you check for errors in rhythm and wrong notes, at lease.

I live in FL and the harps are fine. The gut strings do break fairly often though, and gut strung harps are hard to keep in tune outside in the humidity.

Dustys are more stable for tuning than the preludes/anas, partly because of the stringing.

The hartwig does load on the disc side, since the harp is suspended and the discs don’t touch. He said it was a safety feature to have the column on the passenger side, FWIW.

Mr. Hartwig may be dead, but his family are very protective of his designs. If you are interested in getting one, the person to start with would be his daughter, harpist Becky Nissen in South Carolina.
