ParticipantI’d be upset, too!

ParticipantAnd that video won’t play in the US, even on a desktop with flash. It’s a licensing thing.

ParticipantUnless they have an app for itv in the app store, you can’t.

ParticipantHi, Saul. No, he’s out in Washington state now.

ParticipantThey have a harp circle that meets once a month and I think they have a regular meeting scheduled for September, too.

ParticipantSouth Florida has many, many harpists, both lever and pedal. Try contacting the local AHS chapter:

ParticipantThanks, Patricia. Very clever of you.
Incidentally, since this thread has gotten a bump, it seems like the Happy Owl people just can’t get their act together. They’re just announcing the ipad 2 version of the clutch, so maybe it will ship about the time the ipad 3 appears. Pity, because it’s such a great concept.

ParticipantOh, I’ve heard lots of things, but it’s all rumors at this point, so you can make up whatever you like and it’s as likely to be true as they are. 🙂
At the moment the consensus seems to be early 2012 for the ipad 3, but who knows?

ParticipantHere’s a link to the relevant IRS document (pdf, so it’s a direct download link):

You can deduct your mileage, but not your performance

ParticipantThat’s what I’m saying. That kind of donation is not tax deductible, or every volunteer in America who does any volunteer work would use it:
http://www.bbb.org/us/Charity-Tax-Deductions/
The value of volunteer time or services to a charitable organization is not deductible. However, out-of-pocket expenses directly related to voluntary service are usually deductible.

ParticipantSorry, hit Post too soon. Unless the law has changed very recently, you can deduct physical objects (sheet music, instruments, etc) that you donate, but not your time/performance/volunteering.

ParticipantServices are not deductible, Paul.

ParticipantSidney, you might want to contact Robert Cunningham in Atlanta, too. He has a sort of blade lever for his harps which also have strings too close to the neck for regular levers:

ParticipantWhat people mean is that you should use strings okayed by the maker. Lever harp strings are not standardized at all, not like pedal harps. Some harps use pedal harp strings, some use much lighter stringing than that. It’s not so much a question of gut v. nylon as that you can damage a harp by putting, say, pedal harp strings on a harp not designed to cope with that much pull.
In your case I think you have a harp that uses pedal strings, right? A L&H, wasn’t it? No worries about damage in that case.
