Carl, I am just grappling with this passage using Renie’s transcription, having learnt it once and then forgotten it I am finding it difficult to memorise the second time around. I would certainly like an easier version. Who published Pierre Jamet’s version, if it were published ?; I have a score and now regard this as an 8 measure passage.

I can suggest Three Diatonic Preludes (Buxton Orr/OUP) and Deborah HC’s Natalia. Also you could find ideas in the Trinity and AB grade lists, at grades 7 and 8.

I’ll join in here, as I have also just been asked to play the Mozart for the next concert, I hesitated and then wisely declined, saying possibly for a future workshop. I am going to take my time over this, whilst I can play excerpts, I can see that performing this and the stamina required would be a different ball game and your comments have confirmed this. Well that’s behind me, the concert was on Friday night and that piece went down a treat. I only had two rehearsals with the strings and could have done with someone to rehearse Variation III with me or play the part on the piano (anything).
Thanks, I’m okay now thanks to some real help with those chords from another harpist, so I have made real progress, even in 3 days and yes it is a lovely piece.
I hated languages at school but have since made up for it. My usual day job sometimes requires me to travel and I once spent 6 months in Luxembourg, right now I am hoping the next stop will be Paris, so I have been listening/watching French recently to get my ear attuned. At least I will be able to take the train from London, all much more convenient nowadays.
