The Dilling Harp is made by Arslaan Fay (was made, I should say, since he lost his workshop to Hurricane Charley). It is a smallish Irish-style harp, but instead of levers on each string it has a single action type mechanism, controlled by seven levers in the neck of the harp. So there is one lever that moves all the A strings, one that controls the D-line, etc.

Emily Mitchell and Jocelyn Chang are probably the best-known performers on this harp.

I was wondering if Emily Mitchell’s harp was one, thanks for that information Barbara. It is a beautiful harp, and it sounds great. I have her album, Irish Harp Songs, and I love the sound of her harp.

It’s a shame about what happened to Fay’s shop and that these harps are no longer being made.

What if you fill up the cavity of your lever harp with fresh dill?

Is the music on Erik Berglund’s website played on a Dilling harp? I love that sound.

    Mr. Fay-

I am fortunate to have been a student of Jocelyn Chang for the past 6 months, and I appreciate what a lovely instrument the Dilling is.
