I am working with some college music composition students.
I don’t recall any specific symbol used to indicate it, but I have seen it notated as Sur les cordes entre chevilles et sillet.
Tell them we don’t do it and don’t write it.
Why not?
It’s not very audible, it has no pitch, it can mess up your strings if you do it a lot, it can affect your tuning, stuff like that.
