    Oh, I see…she’s saying “Clarsita” would be pronounced “Klar-shta.”

    LOLOL!!! And there you have it Audrey… The Irish spelling became horrible when filtered through South American Spanish… And “Clarsita” was understood by family who are still mystified by Irish in any form.

    The Spanish speakers are closer than they know! In Irish, “O’Leary” is “Ó Laoire,” which is pronounced (more or less) “Oh LAYR-eh,” and what became Anglicized to “Daniel/Danny” is actually “Donal” (DUN-ul).
