Just curious if anyone out there owns or has owned a Pratt lever harp.

I played one at the AHS conference in Dearborn last year. I thought it was maybe the best lever harp I ever played, but they are too expensive for me. My money goes into my pedal harp.

I’ve had my Pratt Chamber harp for nearly a year and I love it.

    Jennifer,

My ears are picky too, but I really was blown away by the sound.

And, actually, they seem to fall pretty much in the middle in terms of lever harp prices.

Sounds like a wonderful harp! I went to the website and can’t find any info about what the various models weigh. How heavy are they?

    Diana,

I ended up renting the harp that I discussed above, and I can tell you that it’s quite heavy.

I looked up the Prelude 40 and it weighs 44 pounds, so if the Pratt lever harps are heavier that’s saying something! But they still probably weigh a lot less than most pedal harps. Wish I could hear a sound clip of one being played.

    Brook,

Obviously we are on different playing fields when it comes to $$$. To me that is a lot of money — even for a good lever harp. I found something I like for much less money, but if you want it and can do it, go for it.
