David, glad you have made a wise decision. Back in the day, my sister and brother-in-law used to cross the border frequently when they traveled from Guadalajara (where Neil was a medical student at the university) home to Philadelphia to visit family. There were numerous instances where they were held by the Mexican border authorities merely to be shaken down for money when they had done nothing wrong and had broken no laws. The border officers were very poor, like many of their countrymen, and looking to extract money any way they could.

    Hi Natalie,

I do, actually, have a whole slew of new arrangements, and hopefully Vanderbilt Music can get the clearances so they can be published. I just finished ‘O SOLE MIO, THAT’S AMORE and THE NEARNESS OF YOU. And I have a whole bunch of other bridal requests to arrange as well.

I’ve always said I attract the weird things in life, be they people, gigs, or situations. If there is a crazy person in the room, they ALWAYS find me…..I’ve had friends actually tell me, “Geez, you’re not kidding…..the crazies DO find you no matter what!” It doesn’t seem to matter if I’m at a bridal show, McDonald’s, or church. They just find me!

Up until I found the love of my life, the only guys who approached me seemed to be total creepers… I know that sounds mean, and I have had one or two very sweet boys who had crushes on me, but otherwise STRANGER-DANGER.

While I’m sure I’m not as “gifted” as you, *laughing*, I can bring some weird ones too. The worst example would be the guy who taught me how to stab people and how he skins squirrels.

P.S. Looking forward to the arrangements! ^_^

Natalie–YIKES! I’ve never had anybody approach me over skinning small animals!!! I seem to get the nut cases who try to convince me they were Frank Sinatra’s agent….or they know ALL about UFOs and alien bases underneath South Mountain….or my favorite, a guy who approached me in a church. He seemed to have a language barrier but it seemed like he wanted me to get some Holy Water so he could shave! (That’s the best I could make out from his gestures!) I just smile nervously and try to be polite, but HONESTLY!…..

That was a good one! Frank Sinatra’s agents and the UFO people sound difficult to escape conversation with.

The same creeper with the squirrels told me I was the fruit at the top of the tree, and all the other (exact quote) ‘sluts’ were rotting on the ground…

I openly asked several guy friends at the time to watch out for me… Now I have a boyfriend who was there at the time and made sure I was never alone with creeper guy!

I have never been approached by anyone remotely strange while playing the harp though, I am very happy to say. I’ve had strangers take videos while walking by, that’s about the weirdest.
