I’m considering entering into music thanatology, and have a question about harp types. The official thanatology website recommends a 31-string custom-made pedal harp which is very high quality, and of course the cost reflects that. I wonder if anyone out there has discovered any other, less expensive type that can be used for this? I understand that the musical requirements for thanatology are sophisticated, yet I like to explore options.

I would imagine it would still need to be a pedal harp with 31 strings.

    Thanks for any info/help!

Hi Jennifer- thanks for your reply!

Woops, meant levers – shows how new I am to this instrument.

I studied classical guitar for many years and am quite music-educated, but evidently guitar isn’t considered a thanatological instrument.

I certainly don’t think Carl was being rude, just asking a logical, direct question.

No reason in the world you could not do it with a guitar.
