Gretchen, you are SO BAD, ha, ha!  I loved it!

Emma, those are wonderful names and explanations to go along with them.

Everyone, enjoy my “Strange But True” story!

    Best wishes,

    Balfour

    Hi all!

The first harp that I named was a wonderful Salzedo with a beautiful voice.  I named him “Barnabas” which means “son of consolation”.  My current pedal harp, a Salvi semi-grand, is named “Theodora” which means “gift from God” and my Dusty Strings 36S is named “Gabriel” which signifies “God is my strength”, although I had the archangel Gabriel in mind when I named him.

Thanks, Jerusha!  I love your harp names, and will always use the names I chose for my harps.  They are such special creations, and like someone said, you embrace them to play them.  I cannot imagine not naming something so special as your harp!

I call my Swanson simply “the Swan”, my SE Eve is “EVE” ; i haven’t named my Thormahlen Serenade but i think it’s aptly named already.

Balfour i enjoyed your Strange but True.

Mr. Swanson, it’s never the harps fault!!!!

I haven’t been able to find the right name for mine…and after all these years it’s almost been too long.  Like you wouldn’t wait 15 years to name a child, you’d name them right away.  Maybe her name is “the harp.”  Not very original.

Andelin,  I just wanted to tell you that I had already named my  L&H 85GP pedal harp “Eglantine” before I found her!  I really did dream about her before I went to the Atlanta Harp Center,  I traded in my black 85 CG for her, and I have never regretted it.  A smaller harp is so much more comfortable and playable for me, especially now that I am 61 and feeling the “pains of aging,” ha, ha!  Even Eglantine’s 69 lbs. is a lot of weight to move when you have arthritis, and I am so blessed to have my sweet wife of 40 years to help me with this harp.  My Dusty FH36S “Cherie” is THE BEST to take out “on a date” and I have no problem loading and unloading her all by myself.  Andelin, I do hope you are able to get the pedal harp of your dreams before long, but I must say, I am enjoying my Cherie lever harp most of all right now!

    Best wishes everyone,

    Balfour
