Following five years of planning and 18 months of construction, Camac Harps has opened a new manufacturing facility on its existing site in Mouzeil, France. The harp maker says the new workshops were built in response to increasing demand for its harps and in anticipation of further increase in demand. “This project was based on three objectives: to offer our craftsmen optimized working conditions, thanks to more spacious and brighter workshops; to ensure compliance with current safety and environmental standards with a modern building; and finally, to look to the future by increasing our production capacity,” Camac president Jakez François says in a press release.
The new workshops triple the surface area of the old manufacturing facility at over 30,000 square feet. “This is a brand new building, constructed alongside our original premises, and which now houses our entire manufacturing operation—from wood storage to varnishing,” François says. “The original building remains in use and is dedicated to assembly, stringing, and tuning operations, as well as harp storage, shipping, and administrative activities at our headquarters. A third building is exclusively dedicated to the manufacture of our pedal and lever harp mechanisms.”
“In 2022, we celebrated Camac Harps’ 50th anniversary in style, and it is now with great pride and some emotion that we open a new chapter,” François says. “Our ambition remains the same: to offer harpists around the world French harps of the 21st century, both faithful to our tradition and resolutely forward-looking.”
