Emily Granger releases her second solo album (and seventh total album release), A Thing Of Beauty, on July 3 on ABC Classic. Granger says in the album’s liner notes, “In a world that rarely slows down, this album is an invitation to pause. It’s a return to what matters most in times like these: simplicity, stillness, and unapologetic beauty. Bringing together two new commissions and a collection of deeply personal transcriptions, it traces a path through vulnerability, authenticity, and connection—music that I hope speaks directly to the heart.”
An American-born, Australian-based harpist, Granger is principal harp of the Queensland Symphony Orchestra and serves on faculty at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, University of Queensland. She performs internationally and is a founding member of Quartet X and the Chicago Harp Quartet, and a core member of Ensemble Q. Granger has commissioned and premiered more than 85 new works for harp, with a particular focus on Australian women composers. She says this commitment to living composers is at the heart of everything she does—on stage, in the recording studio, and in the teaching studio.
