Harpist Stephanie Babirak will release her second album, Rotten Fruit, on June 12, with the lead single, “Hey Cain,” out now. According to a press release, Rotten Fruit is “a meditation on goodness, guilt, and the things we inherit—drawing from biblical imagery to explore disillusionment, love, estrangement, and what it means to be ‘bad.’” Written in collaboration with guitarist and songwriter Peter Scoma, Babirak’s album places the harp at the center of a contemporary folk-pop setting, blending its sound with guitar, bass, drums, and synths.
Babirak is an NYC-based harpist, singer-songwriter, and composer with parallel careers in classical performance and original indie work, including writing and releasing jazz and art-pop music.
