Harpist Anne-Sophie Bertrand is releasing her album Amalie’s Cosmos on Pentatone on Mar. 13. Bertrand says the album invites listeners to imagine the musical, philosophical, and scientific exchange that took place at the 19th-century salon of Amalie Beer in Berlin. Composers featured on the album include musicians who would have performed at Beer’s home, including Fanny Mendelssohn, Franz Liszt, Pauline Viardot, Niccolò Paganini, and others.
Anne-Sophie Bertrand is principal harp of the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra and an international recording artist and chamber musician. She teaches at the Royal Academy of Music in London and the Akademie für Tonkunst in Darmstadt. As a soloist, she has performed at Wigmore Hall, Purcell Room, Fondation Gianadda, Alte Oper Frankfurt, St David’s Hall (Cardiff), and Simón Bolívar Hall (Caracas), and collaborates with leading artists and conductors worldwide. She received the 2024 Kulturpreis from the Ingrid zu Solms Foundation.
