Jazz harpist Amanda Whiting will release her third album with Jazzman Records on June 24. Whiting says that new explorations in a time of global changing events and uncertainty led her to record Lost in Abstraction. Whiting’s trio, including Aidan Thorne (bass) and Jon Reynolds (drums), is joined by flutist Chip Wickham and percussionist Baldo Verdú. Lost in Abstraction features 10 tracks and is available as an LP or a CD.
Whiting was one of the first in the United Kingdom to receive a master’s degree in jazz harp. She currently teaches at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. Whiting also teaches beginning jazz and improvisation on Harp Column Academy.
