ParticipantIt seems like a lot of people didn’t come here. This forum is so awkward, small print hard to read, etc. that I don’t like coming here now, but it looks like we’re stuck with it. It’s like having color TV and then going to black and white…a real step backwards.

ParticipantI have to say I agree. Just scanning the forums is confusing. I don’t find it nearly as user friendly as the old format.

ParticipantPlease don’t.
I sent Saul a message to see if he will be joining the new forum. I know I had a bit of difficulty getting my old ID activated on the new site, so I am sure I’m not the only one who had problems.

MemberAt first I had some difficulty when the forums weren’t visually separated well. Now that the headings are formatted better it’s easier to navigate. It will take some people longer to adjust but I think with time most people will get along fine.

MemberIt’s NOT that hard folks – and that’s coming from a self proclaimed “Techidiot”! You can do it . . . step OUT of the box. 😉

ParticipantI’m also trying to get used to this new format. I’m really hoping they follow through and get all the “old”posts back up. There was a lot of really good information there. I just thought I’d alaways have it at hand so never took notes.

ParticipantI’m not having trouble negotiating, but I find the new “areas” of posting to be less than helpful. I preferred the “old” ones. I was already “intimidated” alot in the old forum by the professionals on the pedal harps. This one is even more so since there is no where for us “unprofessionals” and lever harpists. Also, I agree, when I am posting the print is so tiny.

ParticipantI also miss the old areas of posting. The new forum seems to be geared more towards professional or pre-professional harpists and as an adult beginner who doesn’t aspire to play the pedal harp or publicly I feel like I don’t belong anymore. I miss the old forum! This new forum seems more for serious harpists and not for people who just play for enjoyment. I don’t want to push to learn technically complex pieces anymore and am just enjoying learning to play simple songs beautifully.

ParticipantHi Deb and Carol,
I’m not a pedal harpist and I don’t play publicly either. I play wire harp and I don’t do repertoire on it either…. just my own arrangements. You’re welcome to friend and post to me on my profile page, if you like. As far as the print size goes, I think you can tweak that on your browser…. I’ve done that a few times on some websites I’ve visited, especially when things get moved over so far you can’t see them. View -> Zoom if you’re using Firefox is pretty helpful for me.December 30, 2012 at 8:48 pm #102122andee-craig
ParticipantI have to agree with Deb. the new forum seems very geared to pedal harpists much more than the old one. I guess it’s up to us lever harp players to start more threads and conversations and perhaps that may draw some of the lever harpers back into the forefront.

ParticipantI’ve never gotten around to starting a post, just replying to the ones that look interesting. I guess I wasn’t paying too much attention to the pedal harp/lever harp content ratio but anyway…. maybe I should think along the lines of starting threads.
