Lino Liviabella

(1902–1964) Italian composer, organist and teacher, Lino Liviabella came from a family deeply rooted in the sacred and academic musical tradition. He studied at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome, graduating in piano, organ and composition under the guidance of Ottorino Respighi. After his early years as a teacher and performer, he held important positions at the conservatories of Pescara, Venice, Palermo, Pesaro, Parma and Bologna. Composer of operas, symphonic, chamber and educational music, he received numerous national and international awards. He was also a music theorist and educator, publishing books on harmony and music pedagogy. Among his students was the composer Franco Donatoni. His works were performed both in Italy and abroad, making a significant contribution to twentieth-century Italian music.
