Dan Reiter is a celebrated cellist, composer, and arranger, recognized for his expressive performances and his unique contributions to harp music. As the principal cellist of the Oakland Symphony and Fremont Symphony, Dan’s artistry extends beyond performance—he is an innovator in arranging and composing music for the harp. Dan studied Indian classical music under Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, and has incorporated Eastern influences into many of his compositions.

Dan has crafted numerous arrangements for solo harp, harp and cello duets, and harp, cello and flute trios, in close collaboration with his wife, Natalie Cox, a distinguished harpist herself who was principal harpist with the Oakland Symphony from 1980-2015. His compositions offer musicians intricate yet accessible pieces. With a keen understanding of the harp's nuances, Dan has reimagined traditional repertoire and crafted original works that highlight its expressive capabilities, elevating the harp’s presence in chamber and orchestral music while inspiring new generations of musicians.
