Amanda Whiting

Amanda Whiting is a UK-based composer, harpist and educator, whose original compositions and arrangements for pedal and lever harp are featured across major UK examination boards and performed and studied internationally.

Classically trained before completing a Master’s degree in Jazz, Amanda combines her classical foundations with jazz, improvisation and contemporary influences. Her published repertoire aims to make jazz and contemporary music accessible to harpists of all ages and levels, introducing players to jazz harmony, rhythm, improvisation and their own musical voice in an engaging and practical way.
Alongside her work as a composer and publisher, Amanda is a highly regarded contemporary jazz harpist signed to First Word Records, with nine album releases.

Her album The Liminality of Her was featured in Spotify’s Best UK Jazz of 2024 and received widespread acclaim from MOJO, Jazzwise, Clash, Bandcamp, Apple Music, AllMusic and Harp Column, among others.

Amanda holds a  Harp Column Studio and is a lecturer at Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama (RWCMD) and Royal Birmingham Conservatoire (RBC), as well as a visiting lecturer at conservatoires internationally. Her Pedal Sliders Harp Book series reflects her commitment to expanding contemporary harp repertoire and providing accessible pathways into jazz and improvisation for both pedal and lever harp players.
