This piece by Alberto Ginastera belongs to his Dos Canciones, Op. 3, composed in 1938 to poems by Uruguayan writer Fernán Silva Valdés. Originally written for voice and piano, “Canción al árbol del olvido” was premiered in Buenos Aires on August 25, 1939, by soprano Amanda Cetera and pianist Roberto Locatelli.
