Well, I’ll start this off: the weirdest student I had must have been the pretty young woman living on the East Side of Manhattan, who actually turned out to be a call girl, who thought she ought to learn the harp like the courtesans did. It didn’t last long, and I hope she went back to Ohio.

My parents have Toyota Sienna van, that they outfitted with a wheelchair lift. It appears like it would work perfectly for a harp. It comes forward from the van, dangling straps into which you could place the harp, then it would lift it up and into the van, you secure the straps, and then it would hang suspended, untouched by any bumps or vibrations. Seems like it could work.

Unfortunately, taking Prednisone is not an option at this point.

    Patricia,

I have used both Polysporin and Neosporin with excellent results.

You didn’t mention bag balm and lanolin, so I’m going to re-suggest them. You might even melt them together so you have a concentrated amount of lanolin. I have done that with vaseline and lanolin. It re-gels as it cools.

Well, I think these people are serious criminals, and it may all be one person or gang involved. People who have been lured to Nigeria have actually been murdered. I can’t believe it hasn’t been movie already. It’s nothing to do with harp, it’s about getting your id to steal or cash.

Have you tried lanolin or bag balm? Or AmLactin?

I too, have approached a school district. We definitely need a handbook or mentor network to assist, for we need to have programs in every district. One issue is seeing that students get time and credit not only for lessons but for practice time. I know of a former teacher in the school system here. But how to accomplish it now may be a different thing. There are arts organizations that provide or assist in arts education and music in the schools, so I would suggest contacting them for advice, and anyone who knows how administrations work. There is a mindset difference between teachers, school-system teachers, and administrators. How about a dictionary for translation? And how about creating a list of all the districts nationwide with harp programs? There may be an AHS committee that deals with this, or there should be.

One more thought, while it would be difficult to have someone make a harp tray for you, what might be not difficult is to take an old harp trunk (people seem to always be wanting to get rid of these), take the lid off of its hinges, and use the bottom portion as a tray to set the harp into, strap it in, and load on it’s side or column-strapped to the wall. It might work as well. It is the same principle.

    Hey!

Maybe you could write to Park Stickney. He’s a great jazz harpist. I got to know him in the German harp meeting. He plays so great. Well have a good day…

What about Volvo? Do they still make station wagons? They used to be a popular choice, though some models were a touch narrow.
