Don’t worry. I will eventually go to Chicago and see the wonderful harp factories and visit that restaurant across from Lyon & Healy you guys talked about. Have to get myself fully prepared first. I have to find a friend I can trust who knows Chicago inside and out who’ll go with me, and raise lots of money to go on a bus ride to Chicago, find an excellent, affordable 5 star hotel, and spend long, happy hours at both factories getting to know both the people and the wonderful harps behind them.

Update: I decided to cancel the trip until further notice. All day long since yesterday I’ve been agonizing over wanting a harp at those factories. I
can’t see myself going over there and coming out empty handed. Come to
think of it, it would be better for me just to stay home. I’d rather spend hours without
constraints at the factories playing and eventually buying one of the
harps they have. It’ll be better for me to hold off on the trip until I’m better
ready for it and have the affordability to buy a harp there.

Due to Indian Trails departure and arrival schedules the time while
visiting Chicago will be constraint; I may have to skip the tour of the
Lyon & Healy harp factory when I want to go visit both Venus and
L&H factories and spend a lot of hours getting to know all the harps
there. Next trip I’ll be sure to tour the harp factory.

Ok. I talked to the bus station in my hometown and they said the 2 bus stations in Chicago is located at Union Station and 95th & Dan Ryan. Union Station is very close to where the harp factories are at. Which means I can get off the bus at Union Station and head over to the harp factories by the city’s taxi or another bus.

I’ll have to ask the bus office for that one. Great advice on carrying cash. If I have cash, it’ll be either at home or in my credit union and paypal account. Definitely not with me when I go to Chicago.

To be honest, I don’t want to see myself going over to Chicago without
cash to buy a great harp over there at the factories. I rather see
myself affording to go over there and play the wonderful harps they have
over there, pick a harp I’ll love to own, pay for it, and leave the
factories a happy woman knowing that I’m now the proud owner of a great
concert grand harp. Since I discovered that Indian Trails is doing
express services to Chicago without limits, I can go on day trips to
Chicago and see the harps at the factories as much as I want. Even
during the summer months when I don’t have any performances scheduled
    for that time.

I’m not going to beg people for a harp or cash to buy a harp, I’m going to work for it at Mental Health, my upcoming full time job when I find one, and at public performances at my hometown. Something I should’ve told you this before when I started the new post. Oh well. At least I won’t be going without a harp anymore.

I work part time at Mental Health doing evening custodian work. I plan to get a full time job in the future when there’s one that’s right for me. I’m not complaining about the harp I have. I’m telling you that I have plans to buy the harp and restore it one little bit at a time. I love the harp I’m renting and I’ll do whatever it takes to get cash so I can buy and restore the harp I have.

Today I sent another application to Lyon & Healy harps in hopes of
affording to buy the Chicago Petite 40 pedal harp which costs $10,450 to buy. Unfortunately the
application was declined again! *sigh* I give up. Now more raising money
to buy a brand new harp. From now on I’ll start raising money to buy and
fix up the harp I already have. I guess the Venus Classic and I are
meant for each other… and that’s all right with me. I love the
Venus Classic and would never have any other harp. To me, I prefer concert
grands than small dinky harps anyway.

    Have a great weekend!

Update: I might as well give up looking for harps right now and go back to
raising more money. I’ll have better luck when I raise more money to
where I can either finance or rent to own any pedal harp I can afford.

Update: After facing so many choices and so many harps to choose from, I
decided to do the next best thing and ask Budget Harp Rentals in
Jacksonville, Florida if we can switch harps and see if the harp I pick
is in far better condition than the harp I have. To be frank, I don’t
want a Camac harp at all. I only want a harp that perfectly fits what I
want for a harp. I’m going to be open minded and see if the BHR
has a Lyon & Healy 23 in a much better condition than the harp I
have and see if it’s ok for me to switch from the Classic I have to the
    23 harp.

Yes, I’m starting to consider that. I’ll have to talk to my mom about sending the harp back so I can save more money and have enough to rent to own a pedal harp coming from the best harp dealer around such as Harps Unlimited International which I will have to stick to if I truly want to afford renting to own a really neat brand new pedal harp I can be proud of owning. May have to settle for a Camac Clio if Peter doesn’t have a Venus Prodigy Harp available for rent. But I want the extended soundboard version of the Clio, not the straight soundboard version.

I’ve just discovered this site that has Pedal Harps available for rent.

    Reigning Harps

And one of them has a Venus Traditional available for rent for $125 a month which I’m looking into renting right now.

    Marian Sussman has a
46-string (low C to high F) Venus Traditional Concert model harp
with extended sound board and big sound. It has new strings as of August.
It comes with a one piece transport cover. Rental cost is $125 per month
    plus tax. Email harpnoteATgmailDOTcom
    for a picture.

    Hope she still has them.

I tried getting a hold of the seller of the Encore, but all she wanted was cash paid in full. So that didn’t work out. All I want is a Venus pedal harp located in the Midwestern and the Northeastern areas which I can afford to pay $150-$200 a month and pay $300 to $400 to ship to the Michigan area. And I sure need all the help I can get from you guys to find one that’s perfect for me, especially finding the Prodigy, Classic, Paragon, Aria, Encore, Traditional and other Venus Harps like them.

That’s cheaper than the harp being sold on ebay and not that far away. I’ll have to get a hold of him sometime when it’s convenient.
