Wyoming isn’t that bad but I know harpists in Arizona and Utah that play in high temperatures all summer outside

they always tell me they can’t imagine a bride putting her guests through that

the naderman was originally for singleaction pedal harp

it’s in a lot of keys that the lever harp uses

I’ve never thought about if you can do them on lever harp but I think you could with some editing you might have to take out some doubled notes in the left hand in order to make the changes

lol easy pieces yep easy because there’s stuff a lot harder but they’re still not easy unless you’ve played the harp for a long time

    damase is good too

the Rensch book claims he was not a harpist but a composer

she also says harpist theodor Labarre who taught harp at the paris conservatory studied composition with him

she also says he used harp harmonics in his opera in 1825 la dame blanche

Zingel gives his dates (1775-1834) and says he wrote a lot for harp but we don’t play it anymore

you can also buy a harp and horn piece by him

pretty sure it was composed for harp not something else

the Hovhaness is nice but like Glass

a lot of repeated material and meditative quality

it’s nice but audiences might get bored with it

I want to be helpful and you sound like a nice person but I have to ask

why don’t you ship it with a freight company that ships harps regularly

the harp companies all use freight companies to ship their harps

unles you live in Chicago your harp was most likely shipped by freight at some point in order to get to you or the store you purchased it at or to get to the person you purchased the harp from

many people have given you suggestions on this forum

ship the harp. send the harp by plane in the cargo hold. drive the harp.

there’s not much more we can suggest for you short of selling your harp and purchasing another where you are moving

    I mean this nicely but

it’s not a dilemma it’s just a decision make it and get on with it

    Deb glad you found it

I just looked at mine and realized I told you the right title and the wrong harpist

Xavier de Maistre does have some cd’s of learning-teaching repertoire but the one that you need and found is actually Catherine Michel

that’s good because the cover art on her cd’s is so clever and fun

    Automates are pretty

you should play whatever motivates you most that’s still in your range of relative comfot and it sounds like they are

there’s a recording of them from http://www.harp.com and other places too probably

it’s by xavier de maistre and probably called pieces faciles pour le harpe you have to check which one because there are several cd’s

it’s deceptive that the cd title is easy pieces but it’s really a series of recordings of progressive pieces that don’t usually get recorded because everyone’s recording Faure Impromptu etc.

so I recommend the cd if you don’t already have it but good luck and congrats on finding Andres stuff it’s great

oh Isabelle Perrin also has a CD of more advanced Andres the whole cd is just Andres very pretty

andres is important for lever harp because he has written a lot that can be played on lever harp and some of it is more advanced

try Asters first it’s nice and easier than some

    Rimbambelle is a real treat

so are Epices and most people learn Vanille (vanilla) first

you can search andres harp on youtube and a video of a guy playing Vanille will come up

Epices look weird on the page if you’re used to looking at straightforward harmony but they are very fun to play and audiences love them

most people like Epices because they are fun newer sounding and challenging

is it maybe that Sarah has less finger noise than Saul might because she’s playing lever harp?

maybe recording lever harp is different

    harp guy

your college should have a career counselling service and alumni can use it

if you want to take Carl’s advice on that which is great check with the school you just graduated from for career services

it will save you money and they want to help because it is good for the school to get alumni placed in good careers

makes other people see the school as successful.

harp guy what about an elementary school music teacher? elementary school teachers have a high female to male ratio and kids that age could use more male rolemodels

    good point about incidental expenses

that is what I find just teaching and gigging

the gig fee seems high until you pay for gas or food if you are really far from home for a long day or you have to buy a dress that works for the event or new music for it

and you might use the music or dress later but it still is an expense connected with that gig
