Great! I’ll see if just a regular 1st class stamp will work. I don’t see a Direct Message function here… want to email your address to [redacted!]

le_sacreParticipantWow Saul, thank you, that’s so helpful! Nightmarish European lullabyes are definitely my favorite kind. I’m so glad Miss Lawrence included it in her collection.
le_sacreParticipantCongrats on your new 85CG! I’m in SF as well (Hi neighbor!), and didn’t find anyone particularly interested in my full-size carton last year. I wound up putting it on craigslist for free and somebody picked it up for some use having to do with animals.
You could call Harps Etc. in Walnut Creek… I don’t think they will pick it up, but if you have access to a vehicle large enough to transport it they might accept it as a drop-off?
It’s sort of a shame since it is an item with some value, but it’s just so infrequently people need them. I think my teacher had some idea for community storage that sounded like a natural to me. Anyway, I hope the timing works out for you and you make someone’s day!
Hope you enjoy your new instrument!

Here’s a link for how to switch the settings: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/115003279466-Enabling-option-to-preserve-original-sound
What I don’t know is whether that works ok in a lesson context where you need back-and-forth communication; there may be problems with echo/feedback. I think these settings may be more likely to help if you are doing a one-sided presentation/performance over Zoom. But I’m going to experiment with it during my next lesson–worth a try.
le_sacreParticipantThanks, Gretchen! My teacher looked into it and says it’s meant to be G. So, lots of options! 😀
le_sacreParticipantThanks for the replies! I’m in San Francisco. I can try posting on the Bay Area and Silicon Valley AHS chapter classifieds, but I didn’t notice crates or cartons ever move very fast when I was checking those listings daily for harps. I’ll see if my teacher knows anybody, or maybe Harps Etc. in the East Bay might come and take it.
le_sacreParticipantFound info here:
This refers to Teflon bushings that were used in Lyon & Healy harp mechanisms from 1961-1986, or roughly from Serial Number 5120 through 10124. The reason for using the plastic bushings was to reduce friction in the mechanism and get a smoother action, which they have done, but when the plastic has eventually worn out they are difficult to replace, and Lyon & Healy has removed and replaced the linkages.
le_sacreParticipantGot it, thanks for the info!
le_sacreParticipantWow, thanks so much!
Amazingly, though (unfortunately) it appears the harp part is not available for purchase (only rental), there was a link to a watermarked PDF “for perusal”, so now I’ve got what I was looking for for personal use, for free!
