I also have a Swan and an L&H pedal harp and I do notice quite a bit of difference in tension – playing the pedal harp gives me blisters but playing the Swan doesn’t! So I’d almost say medium, but I am not sure…I also have a Dusty Strings Ravenna and the Swan has greater tension than the Ravenna, but I feel like it is closer to the Ravenna than the L&H.

kailee-priceParticipantthanks Deb! The pedal harp is amazing, although I still like learning some of the hectic-lever-flipping-songs on the lever harp because I can fit it in my car and take it places…whereas with the pedal harp it basically sits in the living room because I would need to borrow a larger vehicle to move it…
kailee-priceParticipantOh wow, thanks Barbara!
kailee-priceParticipantHi Jerusha!
Well on the RCM syllabus it claims Minstrel’s Adieu can be done on the lever harp with some minor changes if you look under the Grade 9 List B section http://www.rcmexaminations.org/acadinfo/online_syllabi/Harp_Syllabus_2009.pdf
I haven’t tried this myself but I guess it is possible!
kailee-priceParticipantI am also working on learning Moonlight Sonata!
kailee-priceParticipantAw I am glad it went well Kay!
kailee-priceParticipantI don’t see any posts that seem hostile so I am not entirely sure what you are talking about.
kailee-priceParticipantHi Angie! Glad that you have decided to take up the harp, it is a lovely instrument! I am actually one of Alys’s students as well.
kailee-priceParticipantThanks Kay! And I do feel very lucky, Shelby!
kailee-priceParticipantKay – speaking of brand new harps and Thormahlen Swans, I just got a brand new harp today and it is a Thormahlen Swan!
kailee-priceParticipantI really used to like playing this stupidly simple version of Silent Night.
kailee-priceParticipantHmm, I’d say my favourite Christmas tunes on the harp are In the Bleak Midwinter, The First Noel, It Came Upon the Midnight Clear, I Wonder As I Wander, and Noel Nouvelet.
Good luck with making the CD!
