ParticipantDear Brenda, thank you very much for your message, it’s very appreciated.
I also ordered the Mac Perry book 🙂
I received the Proof of Payment after 3 days, yes you should definitely move to a fully automated payment process, I guess nowadays it’s the standard.Of course I understand and I hope to use the website again in the future 🙂
I wrote to hipharp about a week ago via the contact form on the website asking for the new courses but I haven’t received any reply, I will try also via e-mail, thank youdaniele-di
ParticipantThank you!
I ordered a book (“The Very Basics of Jazz & Blues “) from that jazzharp website, I had to wait a bit since I found out it’s all managed by a volunteer organization, but it has been shipped and I’m looking forward on starting studying it!daniele-di
ParticipantI’m not an expert but I started by renting a Ravenna 26, 2 years ago, and played it for about 6 months. I also tried the Juno at a festival, but not enough to make a proper comparison. What I can tell you is that the Ravenna 26 is a really lovely harp and I always find the sound of the Dusty Strings to be way more lively and sweet than the Salvi ones. They are both really really nice, so it’s really depends on your preference. Listen as many audio as possible (Dusty string has many on their website) and then just decide by instinct 🙂 They are two top harps in their range.

ParticipantThank you for the interest Lyn 🙂 The new strings are fine…but now I just broke a new one! but it’s not one of the “usual” ones, so I really believe this one is just caused by the crazy weather…let’s wait for the new one and carry on! 🙁

ParticipantI had a teacher coming over, she checked the holes and she said there was nothing strange with it, no extremely/dangerous rough edges.
What she said is that also other people complained about the same thing, and that there has been a bad batch of string through from Bow Brand (the ones I buy).
She then replaced my 3 missing strings, I hope this time they will last.
I will call the shop anyway and explain them the situation…hopefully I can have some free strings, cause I’ve been changing them often in the past months !daniele-di
Participantasking all around Europe to find a place where to try a DHC bluelight, but no one has it and a shop confirmed me that people just order it and they send them over when they receive them…so they are just buying it blindly …
I can’t even conceive spending thousands of $ blindly without even trying what I’m gonna buy 🙁

ParticipantI’m in the UK 🙁
And often the conversion $ – £ is an INSANE 1-1.
Anyway the Camac UK shop replied but…”I’m afraid that we don’t have one in stock for you to try at the moment. In fact, they are currently only made to order with around a 3-4 month wait on them so at the moment I don’t know when we will next have one in. They basically go out to customers who have pre ordered as soon as they come in. We may have one at Edinburgh next year so it’s worth getting in touch with us before that festival to check.”why must it be so haaard 🙁

ParticipantHey guys, sorry for bringing up this old topic…
Well…after 3 years from the creation of this topic, those are still the only electric harps around… a bit disappointing 🙁
And since I’m searching for one with the strap, the option are 3:
Silhouette
DHC Bluelight
Grand HarpsicleNow, talking about prices, the Silhouette is listed at 6k$ , the Grand Harpsicle at $1695 and the price of the DHC Bluelight is apparently a national secret 😀 I’ve been writing to Camac but I didn’t received any reply, I only found it one one website listed at -ouch- £3695 .
Up until now I also never found a shop in UK that has an electric harp to try.
Only one said that they could order one for me and they assured me that it sound nice…but NO WAY I’m gonna buy an harp without even trying it…I hope Camac is gonna reply…I really want to try the DHC 🙁

ParticipantLuckily I found a teacher willing to come here and check in the next days…this morning I found another string snapped…but that might be cause of the change of season, it happens often…but… 🙁

ParticipantHi Lyn, thank you very much for your answer (I’m from Cambridge anyway!).
My harp has gut string, do you have nylon ones? Gut are supposed to break easily as far as I know…but well, in my case is just TOO MUCH 🙁For mounting the string I have the instructions from the shop and aside from that I use the Sylvia Woods video on youtube : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_rF-rND9C0
I have always bought strings from the same shop and they always have been fine…and In any case I don’t know where else I could buy strings for my dusty string fh36, so I’m happy to continue with that shop.
I can’t see any rough edges…to me it all looks fine…
I also wrote to a teacher that work near here, hopefully she will replydaniele-di
ParticipantHi Bernard, your wife truly is amazing, but also the harp sounds soooo beautiful! did you made it?
daniele-di
ParticipantCongratulations Lyn, your harp is beautiful, I’m really happy for you 🙂

ParticipantHi Lyn.
I`m from Cambridge and I play the lever harp! I`m a beginner but at some point I would love to play with someone else (even with another instrument).
May I ask you who`s making you the custom made 34string lever harp?I`m selftaught and after a year and an half even if I`m improving I really feel the need of some direction/advice so I was also planning to go on a retreat. I would have gone to the Edinburgh Harp festival which is amazing but unfortunately I`m on holiday on those days 🙁
Good luck for your playing and looking forward to see your custom made harp.
